There is a demand for car rental services in Uganda because of the large numbers…
Money saving tips you are when renting a car in Uganda
With a rental car, Uganda safaris are more flexible and less expensive. Below we have listed some of the easiest ways to cut costs when renting a car in Uganda.
Book early:
The easiest way to get the best car rental rates is to book on time. Book well in advance, especially during peak travel times such as festival season and dry season (June to August).
Also, booking early doesn’t guarantee you’ll get the car you’re looking for, but booking late can guarantee you’ll only get what the car rental company has available. Booking in advance guarantees a cheaper rental car than booking late.
Always punctual:
Most car rental companies rent cars on his 24 hour basis and also charge late fees. Please return the car to save money. Car rental companies typically calculate rental rates on a 24-hour basis. So if you received your car at noon, make sure your return is at or before noon. If you choose to return later, you may be charged an additional day fee, even if it is an extra hour. Therefore, punctuality is always important to keep car rental costs down.
Please note the size:
Think practical and choose functionality over luxury. A sporty soft top may look nice, but is it really worth the extra cost? Next, think carefully about what you want from your car in terms of size and features, and don’t forget to factor in fuel costs. If you drive a lot, choose a fuel-efficient car.
Be the driver of your journey:
If you’re embarking on an epic road trip in Uganda, it makes sense to hire an experienced local driver, but adding a driver can add significantly to your rental car price. Therefore, it is advisable to drive yourself rather than hiring a driver as the fees will rise sharply. Consider hiring a driver for the entire vacation as it can save you a lot of money. Pack in some additional features you can think of.
Renting a child seat eliminates the need to carry your own child seat, but rental companies charge a daily rate. If you need a car seat, consider bringing one from home so you don’t have to pay extra to rent one from the car rental company. Rental fees are usually added daily and can go up quickly. Most airlines allow baby items to be carried free of charge. If you don’t have your own GPS, you can save extra costs by downloading free maps to your phone that consume no data while traveling.
Make sure you have insurance and drive carefully.
Most licensed car rental companies in East Africa insure all their vehicles. Therefore, it is advisable not to rent an uninsured car while traveling as it can cost you a lot of money if something goes wrong with your car during your trip. On the other hand, most car rental companies in East Africa only have comprehensive insurance on their vehicles. We also recommend avoiding reckless driving as additional costs may be incurred if you damage your vehicle or are harassed by traffic cops on the street.
Check out our fuel policy.
Different rental companies offer different fuel policies. The most common is “Full to Full”. This means picking up the car with a full tank and returning it with a full tank. This is usually the cheapest option as you only pay for the fuel used. However, some car rental companies have a “full empty” policy. This means you don’t have to refill your tank after your trip.
