There is a demand for car rental services in Uganda because of the large numbers…
The best way to enjoy a self drive experience in Uganda
To explore new and exotic locations, nothing beats your own bike. Since you can’t bring your own car on the plane when traveling to Uganda, find the perfect way to rent a bike and enjoy the freedom and fun. You will be able to own a car while in a foreign country without worrying about:
Advance reservation
Booking early gives you more options of cars, so you can get the type you’re looking for at a good price. Too late and you might end up stuck with something no one wants. You can avoid last-minute price increases by planning ahead.
Compare car rental companies
Once you’ve decided on your travel dates, go online to compare deals. Like airlines, there are big differences between car rental companies. Some brands offer incredible prices, but service is limited. Other companies pride themselves on quality vehicles and customer care, and customers are willing to pay a little more. By researching different brands, you can compare prices, car models, and, just as importantly, what people think of each company on TripAdvisor.
Confirm the Terms of Service
No one wants to read fine print. It’s not exactly a holiday treat. However, it’s worth spending a few minutes at the counter double-checking the rental agreement. Much better than being surprised later.
If you book online, you can find the vehicle’s terms and conditions on the website and on your booking confirmation, so you can review them from the comfort of your own home before you start your trip.
The staff at the car rental counter must verify your documents before handing over your car keys. So be sure to check the terms and conditions of your booking to see what you need to bring with you. Other documents may be required, but the following are always required:
Credit Card – Car rental companies want a deposit on a credit card in the name of the primary driver. So make sure you pack your plastic waste and get good credit for it.
Driver’s License – If you want to drive yourself, you must carry a valid driver’s license.
Identity Verification Documents – You will also need documents that prove who you are and where you live. Usually this is your passport.
Share your journey
Driving in a foreign country can be daunting. There are various speed limits, strange road signs, and laws you never thought of (like using headlights). Doing a little research on local traffic laws and driving routes before you set off will make you feel safer. If possible, we recommend hiring an experienced driver/guide from a car rental company.
Find your way with GPS
When traveling abroad, using a GPS device will take the pressure off a lot. You can avoid daily rental fees by bringing your own device (and you can now download maps to your phone so you don’t run out of data abroad). If you end up using his GPS device from the rental company, take a moment to switch to your language before driving. Some of Uganda’s tourist attractions are in remote areas, and network issues can render GPS and mobile phone online maps useless, so if all else fails, you can always take a map with you.
